CEL Facilitates Tennessee Rural Principals Network

The University of Tennessee’s Center for Educational Leadership has been engaged by the Tennessee Department of Education to facilitate the second year experience for the state-wide Tennessee Rural Principals Network (TRPN). On October 1, Dr. Jim McIntyre, Director of the Center for Educational Leadership, and Betty Sue Sparks, Assistant Professor of Practice and Principal in Residence, kicked off the year-long partnership with a professional learning day for the TRPN in Murfreesboro. Topics included the unique role of the rural principal, strengths-based leadership, and how values drive vision. The participants also identified common problems of practice in their rural schools that will be the subject of deeper analysis and discussion throughout the year.
