James Martinez Appointed Acting Director

James A. MartinezJames A. Martinez has been appointed as Acting Director of the University of Tennessee’s Center for Educational Leadership.

Martinez was appointed Assistant Director in August 2020, and has been a highly-regarded instructor in the Center’s Leadership Academy for several years. He was also a key contributor to the Center’s Tennessee Principal Professional Learning Series this summer. James has also been a crucial partner in initializing the Center’s efforts to infuse character development more explicitly into the Center’s leadership programming with support from the Kern Family Foundation.  Martinez brings a wealth of experience as a teacher, scholar, and practitioner that will be invaluable in helping to chart the course for the future of the Center for Educational Leadership.

Martinez will continue in his faculty role as Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies within the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, as he becomes more deeply and more formally involved in facilitating and supporting the efforts of the Center for Educational Leadership as Acting Director.
